Charlie’s Angel

The last few weeks I’ve had the total treat of working with an adorable new starlet by the name Amanda Crew. We’ve been having such a blast promoting her new movie Charlie St Cloud, where she plays (much to every teenage girl in America’s chagrin) Zac Efron’s love interest. Well, I must say I can see why. Here she is attending the LA premiere looking oh so stylish in her L’Wren Scott tuxedo dress, hi ponytail and sapphire lined eyes.

Not only is Amanda stunningly beautiful but she also happens to be completely down to earth AND friggin hilarious, I mean… it’s just not fair! Well, I can’t wait for the world to fall for Amanda the way Charlie and I have:) and judging by the response so far, I’m sensing resistance is futile.

A Rose Isn’t Just a Rose…

One of the most hauntingly exquisite women I have the priviledge to work with is Ms Rose Byrne. Her otherworldly beauty never ceases to captivate me and this shoot we did recently for London’s Evening Standard was no exception.

The late ’70s Jessica McClintock references were not lost on me and Rose has a unique ability to take you on a journey somewhere long ago just by looking at her, so she couldn’t have a more perfect muse for all this white summer fashion. Could I love the nod to Dr. Quinn Medicine woman more? The prairie hair, the natural light—seriously, it just doesn’t get much dreamier.

Leslie Bibb for L’Officiel

I shot this L’Officiel cover of the lovely Leslie Bibb a few months back in a desert just outside of LA. It was a crazy windy day set in a deserted hotel but Leslie was an amazing sport, even donning a fierce white bob (thanks to the sweet and talented John D) and more than a few latex accessories.

I love the stark quality of these photos and the gloomy narrative set inside a sun drenched locale. The clothing was all black with simple shapes and clashing textures and I wanted the make up to reflect these same elements as well, appearing both dramatic and minimal at the same time.

Here are some fun moments from our blustery, dusty day in the desert-

In The Navy

I am a make up artist who just so happens to live for a smokey eye, so when I was getting January ready to co-host her charity cocktail party last night with her friends at Vanity Fair and Louis Vuitton I decided to pull out a cool navy version that, if must say so myself, looked pretty darn gorgeous!

January is such a rare beauty. I never cease to be inspired by her fearless sense of style. I paired the deep Navy shadow on her eyes with Nars soft apricot cheek color in Enchanted and a sheer orange lip color by Nars called Casablanca. I am absolutely obsessed with Casablanca, I can’t stop thinking of ways to use it on everyone. It just screams Summer! I won’t ramble on and on about the wonders of a soft Coral—although I easily could—I highly recommend just putting it on and tell me it doesn’t instantly make you feel like you’re on vacation!

Style.com and Hollywood Life are loving it too!
