Blake Lively: 2010 Scream Awards

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years you’ve probably heard of “It” girl Blake Lively. This beguiling blonde has graced the cover of American Vogue not once but twice in the last year and has become a regular muse for fashion designers who find her effortless style a breath of fresh air.

What I love about Blake—other than her being impossibly chic—is that like some other flaxen haired beauty I work with (hmm, I wonder who?) she doesn’t use a stylist. She works directly with the designers themselves, which is in a word, bold. It doesn’t hurt that Karl, Marc and Donatella all adore you, but taste can’t be bought, and in this crazy business based on image and insane tabloid scrutiny, it’s practically unheard of. I always love working with women who know exactly what they like and what works on them the most. It takes a real eye and appreciation for fashion to dress yourself for the red carpet, which is something I admire.

Last night, I worked with Blake for the 2010 Annual Scream Awards. She wore the most breathtaking Lanvin dress from the Spring 2011 collection. Oh Alber you really are such a genius. The dress was deceptively simple but made of three parts: a pale gray knit body suit, a flowing chiffon skirt and a leather strap detail complete with a bee made of silver and gold metal at the collar. The contrasting textures and colors inspired me to play around with shades of gold and tan. I wanted the makeup to have a warm and radiant feeling so I used soft metallics.

On her skin I blended Burberry Sheer Luminous Fluid foundation in Trench #03 with a Beauty Blender Sponge dampened with Shea Terra Organics Moroccan Rose Water. I subtly sculpted her cheekbones with Soleil Tan de Chanel Moisturizing Bronzing Powder using a flat foundation brush and placed Nars Sex Appeal blush on top just on the apples. I blended shades from Chanel Eyeshadow Quad in “Dunes” on her eyes and finished with Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Extension in black on her lashes. On her lips I used Tom Ford’s Private Blend in “Warm Sable” a beautiful warm tawny brown. I have been obsessing over this color for months now and using it constantly but I must say on Blake last night it was jaw dropping. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if this girl makes everyone want to start rocking a tan lip, and I for one would be thrilled.
