Emma Stone: The Trevor Project

WOW! WOW! WOW! Ever since I found out that Emma Stone would be taking on the role of Gwen Stacy in the new Spiderman movie I’ve been anticipating her big change from signature red to Gwen’s pale flaxen locks. I absolutely adore Emma as a red head but it’s good to shake it up once in a while! What a dramatic change on her, I love it! Being a chameleon may be par for the course for actors these days but I still always get a thrill out of seeing a beautiful girl try something totally brand new. I mean hasn’t every girl wondered what it would be like to be a blonde, even just for one day?
In one fell swoop I had to change my entire approach to the way I do Emma’s make up. I’d gotten so good over the years at knowing what works on her and what doesn’t that it’s almost like working with her for the first time! I’m having the best time playing around with new color palettes and experimenting with different shades. I’m seriously brimming with ideas. The fact that this excites me so much probably explains why I’m a make up artist in the first place and not an investment banker.
Last night Emma looked like a modern day bombshell at an event held for The Trevor Project, an incredible organization that works to prevent suicide in gay, lesbian and transgender teens. This being her first appearance on the red carpet as a blonde I wanted her to make a major impact so I went for a sixties inspired eye, something very, you know, Brigitte Bardot.
I evened out her skin and added a bit of subtle warmth with one of my favorites KohGenDo aqua foundation OC-2. I love how weightless it is and how radiant it makes skin look especially in photos.
On her eyes I applied NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Paris along her eyelid with an angled brush sweeping it up and out into a soft wing shape at the outer edge of the eye. I wanted to keep the focus mostly on the top part of the eye so I softly blended Elizabeth Arden Smokey Eyes Pencil in Gunmetal along the lower lash line to gently tie it together but kept it minimal. I curled her lashes and applied two coats of Chanel Inimitable Intense mascara in Noir.
This look was all about the eyes so I kept the cheeks and lips quite muted blending just the faintest whisper of Chanel tweed pink powder blush on to the apples of the cheeks and gave her a soft beige lip with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Belle de Jour, how apropos.
I am looking forward to all the fun I’m going to have doing Emma’s make up while’s she a blonde but mostly to seeing her play Spidey’s über smart sexy leading lady. Who says blondes don’t have brains?
