Ladies of Parenthood: Elle Magazine

The women of the NBC show Parenthood are as diverse as they come. The show, loosely based on the awesome late ’80s movie starring Steve Martin, Keanu Reeves and a cute little boy named Joaqin Phoenix is one of my all time favorites. The show, I hear, has similar themes but is very different than the film, and man has it got some serious fans! One of them being my assistant Liza who was coming out of her skin excited to be on set with me that day. We spent a rainy morning on Universal’s lot and shot this photo inside the actual (fictional) home of one of the main characters. I must say, never even having watched the show, the sets were incredible and it definitely made me start thinking I might just be missing something.

I created one uniform look for all the women driving home the point that we’re really all the same even when we seem very different. For the bold red lip I used Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour (in Gabrielle) and Chanel Nail Polish in Dragon on their nails. I love how surreal this photo feels, almost like a glimpse into a bizarre human diorama. Photo by Dusan Reljin.
