I admit, I’m slightly obsessed with Kat Dennings. To me, she is a total modern beauty. Did I mention that working with her is a dream? This girl is funny, smart and happens to be the epitome of unconventional GORGEOUSNESS! (Is that a word?) Oh well, I digress…
For the premiere of her new movie “Defendor” last night Kat decided to wear this beautiful, sleek Stella McCartney Tux jacket paired with the most incredible Brian Atwood taupe patent heels. What else to do but a serious cat eye and muted beige lips right? Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in Beige Felin to be exact.
She looked amazing as usual, watch out for this beauty because 2010 just may turn out to be the year of the Kat.

Just arrived home from a whirlwind trip to Harpo Studios in Chicago with the unbelievable Pink. Oprah was so floored by her amazing Grammy performance last Sunday that she invited her on the show to talk about it.
I arrived in Chicago at 5:30 in the morning and was already back on a plane by noon, but it was so much fun just being there that I didn’t even care. Feeling the audience reaction was totally electrifying—not to mention standing feet away from the big O! Oh, how I LOVE that woman!
Pink is a truly amazing performer with the most unique voice and getting to watch Oprah gush over her, well, let’s just say it was an absolutely unforgettable morning. Check out Pink’s performance of, “I Don’t Believe You” on Oprah’s website. Even at that early hour she sounds incredible.

I spent the last two days holed up inside Smashbox Studios shooting the most AMAZING photos with one of my favorite beauty photographers in the world, Donna Trope. I’ve always adored Donna’s sensibility, her photos are arresting and sometimes totally bizarre—in the very best way. The worlds she creates are razor sharp, slightly skewed and you can’t help but be totally drawn into them. Donna has such a unique eye and her view of the world is completely and totally her own. To me, that’s the mark of a true artist.
As a makeup artist I’ve been so inspired by her work that I can’t begin to describe how exciting it was to finally get to collaborate with her. I had so much fun I forgot it was supposed to be considered work!
I can’t wait to post the finished photos but sadly they won’t be out until May 2010. Until then, here are some of my behind the scenes moments and a link to Donna’s incredible book Beauty Shots. If you don’t already know her work check it out, it really is fantastic!

Here we are again at the Golden Globes, the first of the big award shows of the season. I can’t believe it’s already been a year! I was thrilled to once again be working with the incredibly chic January Jones who was nominated for best actress for her role on MAD MEN.
January’s fashion sense is bold and intuitive. She also happens to have the most impeccable taste, so working with her over the years has been a make up artists dream come true. She’s a major risk taker and never lets anyone dictate her sense of style and this year was no exception.
Her deceptively simple black Lanvin dress was definitely more understated than last years blue Versace number but equally beautiful in my opinion. A richly painted garnet mouth, porcelain skin and lots of lashes were my contribution to her look while hair stylist extraodinaire Mark Townsend tied a black satin ribbon she’d saved from a gift as a headband over a simple french twist. We had way too much fun as usual. She makes me grateful to call this work.
